About Sherrie

Sherrie A. Stevens, MSW, LCSW

Sherrie A. Stevens is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Colorado Springs, CO and is dedicated to working with adults and couples. Sherrie was raised in an active duty military family and is married to a veteran. She is passionate about supporting veterans and active duty military families. Her approach is open minded, compassionate and collaborative. She provides client centered therapy drawing on techniques from Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

She has an antiracism focus and desires to provide individuals from diverse backgrounds with a safe space for self exploration and support in reaching personal goals. Sherrie specializes in supporting clients dealing with concerns related to depression, anxiety, trauma, self esteem and relationship concerns.

She has experience working in schools, community and private practice settings. In the school setting she worked as a School Social Worker. As a School Social Worker Sherrie provided individual and group social skills for special education students that struggled with learning, emotional and behavioral challenges. She also served as an integral part of school based special education team supporting with the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary treatment teams. In the community Sherrie was a Caseworker III at the Department of Human Services (DHS). She supported adolescents and their parents by advocating for the family in court and connecting them with in home services to mitigate the need for out of home placement.

Sherrie graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Southern Colorado in 1995 and earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Denver in 2003. She is a Certified EMDR Therapist.
